Limitation period
The statute of limitations is the invalidation of a claim by the passage of time. It gives the debtor the defence that he can permanently refuse performance. Only claims can be subject to the statute of limitations. Other subjective rights do not become time-barred. In principle, therefore, all obligatory claims become time-barred.
